What makes this Safe better than others?

Can I place important paper documents, cash, or computer memory devices in it? If so, will anything happen to them over time?

The Safe will be completely waterproof, and silica packets are provided to help keep moisture to a minimum. Document quality depends on the quality of the paper. Will a metal detector locate the Safe?

Traditional metal detectors reach down 6” to 10” below the surface, we recommend burying the safe 12” or more below the ground’s surface.

What steps can I take to better secure the Safe from metal detectors?

We have provided “salting” metals. These ferrous metals should be placed throughout the area 6” below the surface. In the event someone with a metal detector scans the area, the salting metals will set off the detector randomly, which will make it difficult to find the Safe. Also, the stainless-steel cable is more difficult to detect than other metals.

How much digging is required?

We recommend placing the safe 12” below the ground’s surface. So 12” + the length of the safe 13 inches = a 25-inch-deep hole is suggested.

If I need to retrieve the Safe, how can I do that?

You’ll need to find the spot where the safe was buried. Dig approximately 6”, find the pull handle, and position yourself using both hands while you pull upwards using your legs.

Do you offer discreet shipping, and do you have other shipping options?

Yes, shipped items are in discreet packaging. We can ship to UPS and FedEx locations that allow “Hold for Pick Up.”

How long can I keep the Safe buried?

The ABS plastic that makes up the Safe, has a 50-year lifespan.

Is ABS toxic?

ABS is relatively harmless. It doesn’t have any known carcinogens, and there are no known adverse health effects related to exposure to ABS.

Once I dig up the Safe, can I re-bury it?

Absolutely. You’ll just need to ensure the Safe is re-sealed properly, and that you clean the debris from the docking sleeve before re-install.

Is there a weight max?

If you filled the large safe completely with gold, the gold would weigh roughly 17 lbs. This amount of weight will not be an issue for the safe.

Do I need any tools?

Yes, a post-hole digger, a measuring tape, and a pen.

Is the Safe fireproof and waterproof?

No, The safe is not fireproof. However, burial at least 12” below the ground’s surface will help protect it from direct fire. The Safe mimics today’s underground water ABS plumbing infrastructure, so as long as it is protected from movement, it will be dry and secure.

Will the Safe contents be protected in a fire?

The following is from a post on Quora: Forest fires burn around 600F, so it's reasonable to assume that it would get very hot underground. But about ten years ago, I read a blog about a firefighter in Southern California who accidentally found a buried time capsule. The time capsule was inside a U.S. Army surplus ammo canister and was only buried about 6" below the surface. It contained a diary, dozens of photos, and miscellaneous other items. A forest fire had swept the area the previous day, and the time capsule was undamaged. Everything inside was in pristine condition, completely undamaged from the heat.
